So, let’s say you’ve got 14 Michelin stars under your apron. Now what? Oh, I know! Launch your creations into space!!
(more after the jump)
In a recent interview with the UK’s Daily Telegraph, the celebrated chef, Alain Ducasse, revealed that:
Most recently, we have been creating dishes for the International Space Station, the ISS. It has all been comfort food, and essentially French – to remind space workers of dishes back on Earth: quails in Madiran wine; chicken parmentier and pommes Tatin, without pastry; spicy stir-fried vegetables.
Reminding astronauts of life “back on Earth” with this menu will be quite easy …. if they’re French. Nonetheless, designing intergalactic cuisine has its difficulties
The challenge is to bring bacteria levels down; in space, that is really important. So, too, is making the kinds of food that all the different nationalities will like.
Would launching a Big Mac into space be out of the question?
