Crazy Delicious Pastries That’ll “Wynn” Your Heart

You’d probably have a better chance of finding Britney Spears’ psychotherapy bill than you would locating the tucked away restaurant Tableau at the Wynn of Las Vegas. And, trust me: both can be just as pricey.

In fact, whereas one would be a boon for the tabloids, the other would be a veritable treasure trove for your palate.

This past weekend we made the difficult decision of ditching a classic American past time during our Vegas trip: the gut busting buffet. Instead, we opted for a dazzling no-you-can’t-eat-all-you-can at this chic eatery located in an exclusive part of an even more exclusive resort.

Yes, the savory items were spectacular, one of which appears above. However, I’m here to talk about the desserts. Chef Patrick Florendo, Tableau’s deft pastry chef, prepared a special tasting plate for our group. Behold:

Clockwise: Banana nut bread on creme
anglaise, caramelized bananas on a bed of
Nutella, caramelized meringue swipe, apple/walnut
dessert, philo dough wrapped diced apples and
a mango sorbet

I must warn you, the descriptions above are mine. Basically, I’m relying on an alcohol marinated memory bank for these descriptors - a very difficult task, I assure you. So, let’s hope I’ve got it right.

In the meantime, I cannot recommend this locale enough. I say the next time you’re in Sin City, ditch the buffet and treat yourself to a work of art. You’re palate will thank you and so will your waistline. Unless of course, you’ve got Britney Spears’ appetite and checkbook.
